Equinox Island Transit is a marine transport business moving people and supplies safely on the water 12 months a year. Island commuting, lighthouse tours, birding, photo tours, celebrations,
bike tours, weddings, funerals, groups large and small, we move 'em all! We are licensed,
insured, certified, USCG inspected and medically trained.
Meet Your Captain John Morin
Looking back at growing up on the lakes and coastal waters of New England, I see the bearing it has on my current marine vocation of charter boat business owner, boat broker and ship service agent. My early experiences on lakes, in small boats, taught me basic boat handling skills and a love for the water. For the first time, early on, I experienced a freedom that comes from “pushing off” the dock.
I primarily spent the next seventeen years working in a third generation, family owned and operated, large service business. We worked hard developing uncompromising customer service principles and maintaining the most diverse customer base in the industry in New England.
I carry these values into my current work. I then started working for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, taking on logistic site manager and field instructor. This experience gave me solid sea skills, such as a keen weather eye, patience, and an understanding of the logistics involved in the safe operation of vessels on the water.
Providing transport and logistical support services to the US Navy, US NOAA Weather, educational institutions, building contractors, tour groups, and social groups are a sampling of our current work. I broker boats of all types for Lyman-Morse Brokerage and reside on the mid-coast of Maine with my family.

Equinox Island Transit is a Maine Marine Transportation Service located in Rockland, Maine. We work statewide contracting the movement of equipment, people and materials.
Equinox, a rugged 40-foot Young Brothers traditional Downeast boat, was built by Clark Island Boatworks, well-known for building superior seaworthy boats.
We're available for custom charters as well as burials at sea.
The Equinox, annually inspected by the Coast Guard, is outfitted with the latest safety gear and navigational instruments, and is piloted by a licensed and medically trained captain and deckhand.
